On March 7/20 of this year, after Vespers, with the gathering of the Mission's brethren, a brother of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, rassaphore monk Avenir (Zarutsky), was tonsured in the cave church of St. Chariton the Confessor. During the tonsure into the small schema, he received the name Anastasius in honor of St. Anastasius of Sinai. The head of the REM, Archimandrite Roman (Krasovsky), performed the tonsure rite.
Father Anastasius carries his obedience at the Mission, helps in the women's convents and also the Head of the REM. He is the official photographer of the Mission.
Father Anastasius will spend three days in the monastery of St. Chariton and then will return to the Mount of Olives to continue his obedience for the sake of the Church of Christ.
