ROCOR Bishops Serve in the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky “at the Excavations

On Thursday morning, June 10/23, on the day of St. John of Tobolsk, Bishops Theodosius of Seattle and Nicholas of Manhattan officiated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Orthodox Palestine Society in honor of St. Alexander Nevsky. The head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky) and Hierodeacon Amphilokhy (Mazur) co-served with the bishops. As usual, the deceased Sovereign Emperor Alexander Alexandrovich to whom the church is a memorial, was commemorated at the service. Also commemorated was the newly reposed First Hierarch of ROCOR, Metropolitan Hilarion. The womens choir sang under the direction of the sister of the Gethsemane monastery of St. Mary Magdalene – Nun Andrea. After the service, the St. Elisabeth Sisterhood offered breakfast in the refectory of the compound.
Afterwards, Bishop Theodosius and Bishop Nicholas alongwith Fr. Roman visited the building of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission of the Moscow Patriarchate, where the Head, Archimandrite Alexandre (Elisov) and the secretary of the Mission, Abbot Nikon (Golovko) cordially greeted the Bishops. Father Alexander expressed his condolences on the death of Metropolitan Hilarion. Over a cup of tea, various topics were discussed relating to Church affairs and the work of the Mission.
