Feast of the Icon of the Mother of God "Life-Giving Spring" in Bethany

On Bright Friday, April 27/May 10, 2024, the Head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), performed Easter services at the Сommunity of the Resurrection of Christ in Bethany. Vespers was served the evening before. On the very day of the feast, Easter Matins was performed with the singing of the canon of the Icon of the Mother of God "Life-Giving Spring" and Divine Liturgy. Protodeacon Vyacheslav Batalsky concelebrated with Fr. Roman. The elder sister of the monastery, nun Maria (Wall) led the singing in the choir. After Liturgy Fr. Roman and the sisters made a religious procession through the territory of the monastery with the singing of the Paschal canon, readings from the Holy Gospel and sprinkling of holy water. The sisters joyfully responded “He is risen indeed” to the Head of the Mission’s Easter greeting.

On this day, Archimandrite Roman celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of his priestly consecration. Father Roman received ordination from the hands of Archbishop Laurus (Skurla; future First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad +2008) at the Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York, USA on May 6, 1994, on the day of feast of St. George the Victorious which coincided that year with the holiday of the Life-Giving Spring.
