The Holy Ascension Convent on the Mount of Olives solemnly celebrated the memory of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara. The name of this highly revered saint was given to the abbess of the Russian convent on the Mount of Olives, Abbess Barbara (Novikova), when she took monastic vows. Also, one of the oldest inhabitants of the monastery, Schema-Nun Barbara, also celebrates her Name Day. On the day of the memory of their heavenly patroness, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky) along with the clergy of the monastery.
After the end of the Divine Liturgy, Archimandrite Roman warmly congratulated the celebrants on their name day. All those who took part in the festive service that day also joined in with congratulations.
