On the last day of Great Lent, March 29/April 11, Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas celebrated the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in the Garden of Gethsemane.
The bishop arrived at the monastery with a pilgrimage group early in the morning and, after being greeted, entered the altar where he vested during the Lenten hours. Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, a cleric of the Mission, Hieromonk Misail (Minin), and ordained pilgrims assisted the bishop.
After the liturgy, the head of the Mission greeted Bishop Georgy. The Metropolitan thanked Fr. Roman and the abbess of the monastery, Mother Elizabeth (Shmelts), for the opportunity to serve in the monastery and spoke to the sisters and pilgrims about the suffering of the Savior that began at this holy place.
Among the pilgrims was the abbess of the Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveyevo Convent, Mother Sergiya (Konkova).
