On Sunday June 4/17, Bishop Alexander (formerly of Vevey) led the Divine Liturgy at the Gethsemane Convent of St. Mary Magdalene. The head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky) with the clergy of the monastery - Hieromonks Misail (Minin) and Theodore (Kirike) and Hierodeacon Amphilochius (Mazur) solemnly met the Bishop at the entrance of the church.
The abbess of the monastery, Mother Elisabeth (Smelic), and her sisters prayed during the service and received the Holy Mysteries of Christ. The choir sang under the direction of nun Makaria (Kepke).
At the end of the service, Vladyka delivered an edifying sermon about the holy fathers of the 1st Ecumenical Council.
