Holy Fire on Olivet

On Holy Saturday, after the miraculous descent of the Holy Fire in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Jerusalem, a lit candle with the fire was greeted at the Ascension of the Lord Monastery on Olivet. The head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky) and Abbess Varvara (Novikova) accepted the holy fire and, with the words “Receive Light from the Eternal Light,” lit the sisters’ candles. Having entered the temple, they walked around the Holy Shroud singing “Thy Resurrection Christ the Savior.”
