Abbess Tamara – in the world Grand Duchess Tatiana Konstantinovna Romanova, the daughter of Grand Duke Konstantine Konstantinovich (the author K.R.), ruled the Mount of Olives convent with humility, wisdom and love for 25 years from 1950 to 1975. Mother Tamara departed to the Lord on the day of the Dormition of His Most Pure Mother in 1979.
 
On the second day of the Dormition, on the feast of the “Image of the Savior Not Made by Hands,” the head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky) served a panikhida at the grave of the deceased abbess. The current abbess of the convent, Abbess Varvara (Novikova) prayed during the service along with her sisterhood. The vestments worn by Fr. Roman was the work of Abbess Tamara.
