August 31/September 13 of this year The Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia elected Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan to ascend to the First-Hierarchal Throne, vacant since the repose of Metropolitan Hilarion in May of this year.
The celebration of the new First Hierarch will take place on Sunday, September 5/18 at the Synodal Cathedral “of the Sign” of the Mother of God in New York.
