On Saturday evening, March 5/18, after the all-night vigil and after the carrying out of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross, novice Olga Fedotova was tonsured into the riassa.
According to the decision of the spiritual council (council of elder sisters) of the Gethsemane monastery of St. Mary Magdalene, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), Head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, performed the rite of tonsure for sister Olga and gave her a new monastic name – Tamara, in honor of the Georgian princess.
After the tonsure Fr. Roman, in his edifying word, emphasized the importance of monastic crucifixion. Then, Fr. Roman presented sister Tamara to Mother Elisabeth (Smelic), abbess of the holy monastery.
