The feast of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem is celebrated on the day of the great feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem.
At the Ascension Convent on the Mount of Olives, the Head of the Mission, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky) blessed palm branches at the all-night vigil so that all the brothers and sisters of the Mission could spiritually greet the King of kings. During the service, the bells of the “Russian Candle” rang out, when, according to custom, on the day of this holiday, a procession led by the clergy of the Greek Patriarchate passed by from Bethpage near the monastery in the direction of Jerusalem.
The Divine Liturgy was officiated by the Head of the Mission, co-served by the clergy of the Mission — Archimandrite Innokenty (Sereda), Abbot Iona (Galishnikov) and Protodeacon Vyacheslav Batalsky. Abbess Barbara (Novikova) prayed during the servicealong with the sisters of the convent.
