On the fifth Sunday of Great Lent, on the day of the commemoration of St. Mary of Egypt, was the tenth anniversary of the elevation of the Head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Abbot Roman (Krassovsky) to the rank of Archimandrite and his confirmation to the post as Head of the REM ROCOR in Jerusalem. (Hieromonk Roman was appointed by the ROCOR Synod of Bishops as Acting Head of the REM on June 1/14, 2012)
Father Roman officiated at the Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Mary Magdalene in the Garden of Gethsemane. Hieromonk Misail (Minin), Hieromonk Feodor (Kirike) and Hierodeacon Amphilochius (Mazur) co-served with the head of the Mission. The abbess of the monastery – Mother Elisabeth (Smelic) and the sisters of the convent prayed at the service.
On the same day, after the meal, Fr. Roman baptized the servant of God Eve, daughter of one of the graduates of the Bethany School for Girls, Jaqueline (Iakova) Verkhovskaya with her husband Konstantin.
