The head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky) served a funeral litia at the grave of Princess Alice of Battenburg on the recent death of her daughter-in-law, the Queen of Great Britain – Elizabeth ӀӀ.
The Greek Princess is the mother of the Queen’s late husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Princess Alice, niece of the Martyr Elizabeth Feodorovna, rests in a crypt under the church of St. Mary Magdalene in the Garden of Gethsemane since 1988 where she was transported from the royal tomb of St. James in London.
