On Bright Saturday, April 28/May 11, the Chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky) performed the last Easter Matins with Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Ascension of the Lord on the holy Mount of Olives. Concelebrating with Fr. Roman were Archimandrite Innokenty (Sereda), Archpriest Igor Kargopolov and Hierodeacon Amphilochius (Mazur).
At the end of the Liturgy, a Paschal procession was held around the temple.
Afterwords the abbess of the monastery, Mother Varvara (Novikov), carrying the Holy Artos, in solemn procession, went with the sisters and clergy to the refectory church of St. Philaret the Merciful, where the prayer for the cutting of the Artos was read. O. Roman cut Artos and before eating breakfast, all the sisters ate a piece of holy bread in memory of Christ's bright Resurrection.
