Meeting of the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad with the Pariarch of Jerusalem Theophilos ӀӀӀ

On the day of the leave-taking of the holy feast of Pascha, May 14/27, the first hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, Metropolitan Nicholas, met with the primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos ӀӀӀ. The meeting took place in the small throne room of the Patriarchate. The head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), and a resident of Holy Ascension Monastery on Olivet, nun Judith (Zastavskaya) accompanied the Metropolitan.

Vladyka Nicholas presented His Beatitude with a copy of the Hodegetria of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, the "Kursk-Root" icon of the Mother of God. During the conversation about church life in the Holy Land and America, Metropolitan Nicholas introduced the Patriarch to nun Judith as the newly appointed abbess of the Holy Ascension Convent on the Mount of Olives by the Holy Synod of ROCOR. His Beatitude the Patriarch blessed Mother Judith to be abbess and gave her a word of instruction on bearing this high spiritual responsibility.

After the meeting, His Beatitude the Patriarch presented Vladyka Nicholas with a mother-of-pearl panagia and an icon of the "Jerusalem" Mother of God.
