The Sunday school of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem celebrated the Nativity of Christ. With the blessing of the head of the REM, Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), the Mission cleric, Priest Roman Gultyaev served the festive Christmas Liturgy for families in the Holy Ascension Monastery on the Mount of Olives, in the chapel of the Finding of the Head of St. John the Baptist.
The older children were singers, altar-boys and readers. And the little participants in the service learned from the older children and took part in the Liturgy as much as they could.
After the service, the Sunday school students, together with their parents, congratulated Father Roman, the abbess of the monastery of Mary Magdalene Elizabeth (Smelic), the sisters and parishioners of the monastery and held a festive performance of "The Nutcracker".
