With the blessing of archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission of ROCOR, during the autumn holidays of Israeli schools in September, the senior group of Sunday school students at the St. Mary Magdalene Convent in Gethsemane took part in a hike in the Nahal Amud Gorge, which is located in the vicinity of the Sea of Galilee. These places are related to the earthly life of our Savior, so this exciting trip became an opportunity for the children to think and talk about the gospel stories associated with these places. Under the leadership of priest Roman Gultiaev, the trip began on the shores of the Mediterranean in a tent camp at Rosh HaNikra near the border with Lebanon, and ended a few kilometers from Capernaum. The children gladly took part in organizing the camp and preparing the meals, which contributed to the strengthening of friendship and team building. One of the main tasks of the organizers of the trip was to unite and introduce our children who live in Israel outside a Christian environment. Here the children had the opportunity to communicate and interact with their peers from Orthodox families living in Israel. Difficulties and trials during the hike brought everyone closer and united them. We hope that these trips will become a good and regular activity.
